Any of you Northerners growing palms in the ground?

I know there are some in CT, NJ, NY, MA and PA that have grown palms, any tips or advice getting them throught the winter?

This has been discussed before on this forum. Needle Palm is supposed to be the most winter-hardy. There is a beauty at the Nat'l Arboretum and a smaller one at Brookside Gardens in Montgomery County MD. Needle Palm is bushy and doesn't made a trunk.
If palms are being grown in states north of Maryland my guess is that they are lifted up and taken inside during Winter.

I am aware of the success that many below the Mason-Dixon line (Maryland and DC are below it)have had with the various cold hardy palms, but what about north of the M-D line, like the states I mentioned? I have heard Southern New Jersey has some that have been growing for awhile. Anyone else up there have some success stories?
