So I've been a busy bee this season. Thank goodness. It's been 7 years since I've been able to face my gardens, and working 2-3 jobs has made it even more unfathomable.

However. I've been digging, clearing junk trees & brush, cutting out shrubs that are overgrown and way past attractive. I've shared stuff on Freecycle and when and wherever someone that needs gardening stuff. Slowly, I've put down SEVEN truckloads of the wood chips the power companies create as they murder the roadside trees. SEVEN.

While clearing out a 'Texas Scarlet' Quince, I found this horrendous tree growing in the middle of it. As I was about to chop it down to a stump, I realized it would be perfect for junk garden art.

I'd been reading about bottle trees, so I've made one of my own:

Now I can keep evil spirits out of my garden! Don't be jealous. You can make one, too. Here's a Goodsearch image search
