 o
Venus Flytrap cold hardiness!

Hello,
I am wondering about the cold hardiness of a venus flytrap. I live right in the middle of Baltimore, MD and Washington DC (both are a 30 min drive from my house). My backyard is wooded and my frontyard is sunnier. My winters haven't been so bad the last couple of years but I think I'm due for a cold one this year. I haven't bought a plant yet and wouldn't plant it outside until spring (if I learn if it can survive my climate). I also asked this on the carnivorous plant forum but figured I could get more accurate replies from other gardeners in my area. Thanks for any advice!

You may wish to check out the information in the following link about venus fly traps. It provides good information on how you can get the plant to survive outside in climates colder than 9a. It is native to an area around Wilmington, NC and can survive outside here in NC in areas well away from a zone 9a.
