Stocks rebloomiing

Posted by kimka z7 (jkkaplan@erols.com) on

I was amazed to discover over the weekend the stocks in my deck window box have rebloomed. I guess the unseasonably warm weather allowed for it. I did do a cut back as I harvested for seed in late October. But I though that in the shortening daylight that stocks would not bloom again.

I didn't smell much fragrance though.

Must be the weather! Butterfly blue Scabiosa in pots by the pool have rebloomed. The pool is covered with an ugly tarp, so the flowers are the only nice thing out there. Even at 23 degrees this morning they are still beautiful and haven't slowed down at all. They were the $3 ones in the spring from Hdepot: cheaper than annuals. I'm getting more for next year or try to winter sow them.

Kimka, Do you have a few stock seeds to trade? I have a few seeds.

I'll look to see if I have any in my stash. I didn't save any from the ones that bloomed this past summer and what's blooming now hasn't ripened seed yet.

Let's take this off the string. Email me at Kim.Kaplan"at"ars.usda.gov.

Do you have anything seeds to trade or you can send a SASBE unless you are coming to the seed swap this weekend?
