HAVE: Garden party spring swap at my house this year

Hi everyone,

The garden party spring swap is at my house this year,if you need directions please e-mail me .

It is May 13th the day before mothers day, 10:00-12:00

For those who have not been there,

Bring

plants- Labeled w/desciptions

or

food or drinks to share

The rules are explained when we start,but I will go over them here.

Plants are placed in there certain catagory such as shade,sun, bulbs ect..

all plants that are the same are all put together ( all (pink) asiatics put with pink asiatics)ect..

If you now the excact name of the plant please put it on.

There will be a few people around to explain each plant if there are questions( if they can).Or well find who it belongs to.

Round 1, pick 3 different plant( different plants)

Round 2 Same, pick 3 different plants

we do that 2 or 3 times then you can pick 3 of any or the same plants,. we do that untill they are gone..

Bring a wagon and something to put your plants in, their is alot of people there so it is usally a little walk to the yard..

It's really a great trade so lets keep it that way.....

The one at my house has over 100 people show up.. Its huge
Ricks is more personal, you have time to chat with people and learn alot..

This swap at Cheri's has been going on for many years with many gardeners from all over- not just for us GWers like Rick's will be. Dotty- you remember her from the GW Winter Blues seed swap, started this many years ago. It is just Cheri's turn to host the spring event. I bet she was on the host sign up sheet for several years before her name came to the top!
There are some folks who come up from the other side of Iowa (with a car full of Iris)- and I met a Canadian participating at my first one. The person from Europe was just visiting a local gardener- but still...
This is a PLANT swap. Bring many plants! They do offer to new gardeners who do not have enough to lift and divide to bring food or something like that to share- but they do have many great plants brought by many great folks and that is what keeps it such a good swap.
Bring a buck to enter into the drawing at the end of the swap for very special or rare plants- and they are always looking for folks to bring in something very special to donate at the drawing as well. The buck helps covers their mailing list costs that they will send out to you for the next swap- if you fill out a post card while you are there.
It is great fun- and a great chance to share what you have an abundance of- or what you are able to- and bring home some great new plants as well!

I am SOOOOOO bummed out! I have to work until 1pm so I can't make this one!

For those of you who haven't experienced this swap, it is the mother of all plant swaps! I encourage you to try to make it. Lots of different things, I always bring a wagon load and go home with a different wagon load!

Don't think of me slaving away at work while you all are having all the fun! LOL
