It's good to have a place to vent to people who understand the frustration. That's sure a shame about Z5. I've tried Z5 plants here and have very little luck with them. I've always thought it irritating that they stock so many of them in the local nurseries too!

Roxanne is certainly not what I would be using as a stalwart in clients' landscapes, but I have seen them growing well around here in the Twin Cities. I have also seen it thriving north of Duluth (still only 5 miles from Lake Superior). But for each plant that grows well, I don't know how many might have kicked the bucket. Obviously, winter survival is not just dependent on temperature.

I've had problems with Rozanne as well and gave up on it a few years back. I was just at a talk given by Richard Hawke, who runs the plant trials down at the Chicago Botanic Garden. He mentioned that he struggled to get it established, but once established was fully hardy. (Even though they warmer they have even less reliable snow cover). I wonder if it just spends too much time blooming at the expense of root development.

Any one had luck with 'Jolly Bee'? A similar looking geranium.
