Chiastophyllum oppositifolium

Though I know I can "google" this plant, I'd like to know if anyone in colder zones (above zone 6, which is generally listed as the max for this plant) has grown it, and if so, how you were successful.
I transplanted a lot of chiastophyllum oppositifolium plants (from seed) recently and thus could try it in many different situations. I know it needs good drainage and partial shade, but if anyone can give me other tips I'd like to know them.
Thanks in advance,
Kate
