bent twig garden furniture

I have a bent twig chair on my porch made of Alder that I have had for nearly 20 years. I would like to get a settee/loveseat to go with it (can be of another variety of wood). Do any of you know of someone in MN or WI that builds this kind of garden furniture? I did a Google search and came up with nothing nearby.

Thanks! Linda

Yep- but it is just for fun for him- he really doesn't want to take orders- I will ask him on Monday though. He has taught classes in Grand Marais at the school there- and I have seen classes offered through Osseo District classes- very pricey all of them.
I have some directions I could try to find and send a copy to you if you think you want to try it yourself... If you have enough "brush" and saplings to choose from- it really isn't too hard. I made a two seater once- and the lack of selection of saplings was the toughest part of making it. Well, along with getting so carried away with building it I forgot about the Poison Ivy close by and ended up basically rolling around in it..... Ya, I wont do that again.....

Is this like what you're looking for? This is part of a wonderful set my friend bought from someone in WI. If it's what you want, I'll put you in touch.

Here is a link that might be useful: willow furniture

Yes, I know someone who does, my father. He sold some last year at a sale in Wisconsin. He is in the south metro area and loves to make them.

I just checked with my father, he said to mention that what he builds is a bench type with willow. It's more of a decorative garden chair than a deck chair. He just told me that bent twig is another art form. I guess we all learn something every day!

leaveswave, that is EXACTLY what I am looking for! Thanks!

Don't think I am ready to tackle something like this myself, although I am waiting for a book on making trellises and arbors. There is a class taught here in North Branch, too but it is very pricey.

I've seen some of the furniture at the 101 Market in Elk River.

In Stillwater is a shop called J.K. Laskin's - non antiques. He handles a LOT of Amish furniture done by the folks in Ohio. We got a GORGEOUS coffee table ordered from there, made to our personal specs for way less than anywhere I've ever seen them. Now I think you are likely going for something more rustic, but if you could have that setee done just to your liking by an Amish farmer in his barn for $200 or less... :) You may wish to look up Mr. Laskin's shop

It's just around the corner from Darla's, up that side street - right next door :)
