This is the first year I'm going to plant these-so I'm interested in anything anyone can tell/advise regarding about these.

I understand they are considered kind of 'iffy' for below zone 5 (unless you want to deal with digging them up in the fall), is that true?

I've heard they are good for attracting hummingbirds...

I thought I'd plant them in with my japanese iris as my japanese iris like to be kept moist.

I tried four varieties last year (received via a trade) and did plant them in pots. I was really pleased at how well they did. They all bloomed for 4-6 weeks in midsummer. In the fall, I dug them up, packed them in dry peat and stored them in my basement. Since they have a tendency to sprout kind of early, I have them all growing inside right now on a sunny porch. I did the same thing last year. They probably won't go outside until sometime in May.

Give these full sun, keep watered and fertilize often.
