I planted Asparagus seed this year, and these seedlings are the funnest little guys! I planted them March 16th and most were up by the 28th. It seemed like they just JUMPED out of the starter and were immediately an inch high. Then.. next time I looked (about 2 days later) they were all 4 inches high. Now they are 5-6 inches and branching out into delicate little asparagus fronds, even though they at so tiny and delicate. They are just plain fun. I bought 'insurance' though, as I have 16 2-year roots in a bag in the fridge, just waiting to go out! Actually, they aren't so much insurance as I just didn't want to wait 3 years to have a taste of my own asparagus!
