Generally speaking- your Hosta should be just fine if it is healthy to begin with- It may take a little while longer than it's neighbors to fully leaf out- but soon- you shouldnt even know that any thing has happened to it.
I have heard that "stomping" is a common practice amongst some hosta growers- That is the practice of stomping on the crown of the plant to cause scarring to stimulate more eyes to form so to have a larger plant quicker....
I am not sure if it works though...

I'm not sure about the stomping working either, but I certainly remind myself of that concept whenever I step on a hosta accidentally! I do agree with Julie though, birdwing, they will be fine.

gosh! I just about went out and stomped some stubborn hostas today..I have one big daddy hosta I planted about 4 years ago that keeps sending up one or two weak little eyes. what have I got to lose? I read about stomping online today..one site recommended taking a shot of liquor and saying a hail mary or two before proceeding..

Yeah- I think I would need that to purposely stomp on little tiny hosta eyes.....
I did have a neighbor that was a hosta geek- and he also suggested taking a sterile razor knife and make a small verticle slice to an exposed hosta eye just where it comes off of the crown-
I almost did that to a sum and substance hosta that came back as 1 eye 4 years in a row- but a move to a more sunlit area cured that plant- it is growing like mad in it's new home!
