Tulips by the mailbox?

I was just wondering if anyone knows whether tulips will survive the salt from the winter? I'd like a little early splash of color in the mailbox garden and was wondering what will work....some sort of spring-blooming bulb - tulips would be my first choice though.

Thanks!

Kristy :)

I planted tulips by my mailbox 4 years ago. They come back every year and are absolutely stunning. I get so many compliments! I bought them from White Flower Farm.

I can only plant tulips where I can protect them from the deer. However, the deer do not bother my daffodils, and I have daffodils planted very near to the busy street that gets lots of salt during the winter.

Thank you for the idea of daffodils. I might mix a few of those in as well. I've never had daffodils.
