| I am going to visit my parents in MN and they want me to take out some juniper bushes and replace them with something else. The problem is that the area is in full sun until 4:00PM and it is rather dry. They aren't excited about watering the area more than usual, either. Does anyone have any ideas? I would be open to anything from a shrub to any kind of ground cover. |

| Once you get to MN, you'll no doubt be going to a garden center to pick up replacements for the junipers. Ask the plantspeople what would be the best for your folks' conditions. Quite a few different kinds of conifers to consider. Spirea, hydrangeas, potentilla, barberry, alpine currant, northern grown viburnum (Emerald Triumph), honeysuckle, ninebark, lilacs, forsythia are all pretty common shrubs here and there are many more I know nothing about. For a ground cover there's always the creeping juniper types. |
