I don't know that any clematis will flower well for you htere, depending on how much light it really gets, but Nellie Moser is one taht is commonly listed as doing well in some shade.

Try Sweet Autumn, which blooms around August and has beautiful fragrance. Also Ramona--Bachman's booklet lists it under shade/part sun.

My neighbor has a white clematis that gets exactly the kind of light you're talking about. I can ask her the name if you like. She's good about saving tags.

Thanks! I looked up some info in a past issue of Northern Gardener, there were some recommendations there. Bluestone perennials is having a 50% sale, and I needed some other things too. So I ordered one called "Clare de Lune" and another called "Mme. Julia Correvon" I know they will be small when they get here, but I plan on potting into some bigger pots for a while. The bed isn't ready yet for them anyway.

We will see how it goes!

Clare de Lune used to be called Blue Moon - I have one!

It is the most beautiful clematis you've ever seen *GRIN* It LOVES dappled light - and loves it's base in deep shade.

OH thanks Marie!! At least I know that someone likes it! Hopefully this will turn out ok. I just realized this morning, that one side of my arbor will be Clare de Lune and the other will be Julia Correvon. In other words, 1/2 one color, 1/2 the other! LOL! Could be interesting.

Trust me - there is no way to truly capture the color of "Blue Moon" and I keep calling it that because it's a better description! Oh MY!! Google is my friend tonight!!
