I don't know about Brainerd, but I have found some at our local K-mart in Grand Forks..I don't have access right now but I will try to remember to look at the name on the bag.
It is the only one I have found locally that seems to fit the bill, but I am only a novice!

if so that is a brand of coastal supply with hq in de. they claim to ship as far west as in but i can't confirm this

what kind of quantity are looking at? qnd where are you? greendell supply is a good company i've dealt with in the past and would recommend to anyone. but they are just west of indy...there has got to be someone closer.

michigan nursery assoc. has a trade show usually in jan...good place to browse for new suppliers or hunt for specific products. or get the exhibitor list and start doing the detective work now.

The place I have bought mine is Pine Products in Waconia, but I know that they have another location in Bemidji. I have found their products to be very good quality.

The same company that has a branch in Brainerd has their main place in Waconia. It's called Pine Products. They have pine fines in 2-3 sizes, including the screened fines for your soil mixtures. They also have a pine fines-based soil that contains the fines, sphagnum and sand. They also sell a crushed granite. You can buy it by the truck load or do like we did and take heavy plastic bags and buy it by the 5 gal. pail-full. It's $3 for 5 gal of the fines or soil. Would have loved a truck load of each but we live too far away.
