Alternate Tomato Trellising (nylon netting, single cord support)

I'm attempting some vertical gardening this year and using the method of a over arching support with stretched nylon trellis netting.

Well, the plants are close to needing some support and I'm having second thoughts about the approach. Basically, wondering what happens when the top of the plant has been tucked through an opening and the plant continues growing. Won't the lower branches off the main trunk begin to stress against the netting as it works upward?

Wondering also about using a single cord method of winding a cord around the growing plant from above. Both methods seem like they have potential but seem like they might not offer adequate support to the branches as they grow out and become heavy with fruit.

What am I missing?

Thanks,

Scott
