Bittersweet from seed

Has anyone started native wild bittersweet from seed? I have a bag of them and need to get them in the ground. Any special recommendations? Molly

I tried it once and got zero germination. Maybe someone else will have had better luck at it, or you could do a google search for the optimal method. Good luck and if you're successful, please report back with your tips!

I've had very good germination of Bittersweet seeds after cold moist stratification for 3 months.

Tell more details about the stratification. Do I score them, then put them in the fridge? Molly

Here how I started my bitter sweet vines. Don't score the seed. Make sure all the pulp from the fruit is cleaned off and plant them 1/4 inch deep in pots. Water them so they are damp but not saturated, (Too much water will rot them during stratification). I put the pots in plastic bags to keep them from drying out in the refrigerator. Put them in the fridge for at least 3 months, then take them out and put them under grow lights or outside if it's warm.
