It might be a litte late. I have faced a similar problem, the watermelon and cantelope both were eaten before I could cage them and I had to replant them directly from seed last week. They just came up yesterday. With waiting until the middle of June, I would definitely expect very late crop if even that. I did see a website saying planting from seeds after the 1st of may is pointless so we may both be doomed. Good luck.
