Hi. I'm a fairly new gardener. This is my 2nd year with my veggies and berries. I'm wondering if anyone knows where I could find a book, website or just some information on when to plant what in Minnesota. I always thought that everything was planted in May but I learned the hard way that this isn't the case. (planting beets too late) and I had another gardener tell me I can grow things all winter. So, I was hoping to learn more on this, maybe there is a chart out there on when to plant what exactly? Any help is very much appreciated.

The U of M extension website has a lot of good info. I like this chart because it also has info on seed starting. Like everything in gardening though, it's a guide. For example, this year I was able to get my cool weather crops (lettuce, peas, spinach, etc.) in on March 27th, which is much earlier than usual. I did have the covers ready in case of a good freeze.

Here is a cool planting calculator that I found helpful. http://www.chestnut-sw.com/growform.htm I've found others but forgot to note the site. Hope that helps.
