Need help with my hepatica!

I was walking through my garden today and noticed that my hepatica looked kind of funny. Upon closer inspection it looks as though something is attacking my poor little plants. I don't know if it's a bug or disease of some sort but was wondering what the best course of action would be. Should I just pick off the leaves that are infected, or do I need to dig up the entire plant and pitch it. I have a number of hepatica growing in the same area, but only a couple of them are affected. I've taken a picture, but don't know how to post it. Thanks for any help you can offer.

Keep a sharp eye out for bugs. It really helps in figuring out the most efficient and appropriate treatment to find the culprit. As a Master Gardener, I have been hearing a lot about insects, mostly 4-lined plant bug currently. The wet weather has been good to them, as well as fungal diseases.

The U's Extension Service has a very good diagnostic site--see link below. Good luck saving your hepatica!

Thanks for the tip. I did a complete search under all the leaves and found a green worm/caterpillar. Since then no further damage!
