Got unwanted grape vines?

We're weaving a roof for our gazebo out of grape vines...I don't know how many miles it will take to finish, but it's a lot, I can tell you that.

If you have unwanted woody grape vines on your property (the more the better and the bigger/longer the better), I'd like to talk with you about coming over to harvest some. Green vines won't hold up for any appreciable length of time, so only woody vines will work for this project.

You get some of this semi-invasive interloper removed and we get a beautiful, naturalistic gazebo roof--win/win! (Western 'burbs preferred, other locales considered.)

I'll post a picture tomorrow of what we've got so far.

I've got some but probably not enough to make it worth a trip since I've been attacking them at the same time as the buckthorn. They grow FAST and invade EVERYTHING and they are harder to pull than buckthorn. I do know of one area in my neighorhood that has a bunch of very long woody ones - big enough for teenagers to play Tarzan on. But they've been doing construction for watershed control and I don't know if they are still there. I'll try to get down that way and take a look for you - after the 4th.

What are you doing in my backyard? :::grin:::

I don't have any grapevines, but have to say that I am impressed with your work on the gazebo roof.

Come on over Leaves-
I will make the offer again- I have a TON of vines I am trying to eradicate from the woods- I have several with solid old growth woody stems for instant appeal- and many that are weighing down tall trees with their LONG growth-
Sounds like everything you want- their fruit is quite enjoyable as well- we found a sheet of paper in the house when we moved in with the names and varieties of the fruit the lady who built this old house planted- all of the grapes have reverted more to the wild concord type- but are still good for juice and jelly!
I live within a 8 mile radius of you- and have offered you to come with your shovel for many of your desires- I like to share what I have in abundance- and LOVE the idea of you taking care of some of my problem.....
I will be attacking them soon (possibly next week) if no takers are interested in them-
Please let me know soon if you want them-
Julie

Woody grape vines--the search continues

We're this close:  ) (

Thanks to everyone who's already contributed. I have a prospect out around Stillwater, but I'd like to find something closer to the western 'burbs if possible. Offering double karma points...lol
