I live just across the river from you and my garden is growing much better than last year. Since I don't have much space either, I use containers and raised beds (square foot garden) and I was able to plant really early this year. The plants are growing like crazy. We've even eaten a small watermelon already. Sorry for your troubles.

Our veggie garden is in a raised planter too. I really like it that way...easy to reach, soil stays loose, a lot less critter issues.

I'm glad your garden is doing so well. I really think the timing of the hail storm was critical. Time will tell!

My spinach, broccoli, beets, and lettuce germinated poorly in Hudson, WI, but it stills seems early for tomatoes, acorn squash, and green peppers. Have patience! I just picked my first tomatoes a day or two ago. Northwoodswis

The problem I have been having is a lack of flowers on the plants. I have three tomato plants, one being a grape tomato. That and one other plant both have an okay amount of flowers (and fruit) on them. The biggest of the bunch is lacking...as are both of my peppers (green and jalapeno).

As for my acorn squash, I am getting a lot of flowers but all of the same sex (male?). :\ At this late date I really am not hopeful for fruit that will be mature before it's too cold out.

I finally gave up on the spinach, pulled out what little there was and planted a cuke plant.

Green beans have been great and so have the herbs!! Each year is just so different from the previous.
