Penstemon recommendations

I'd love to hear from folks who have grown these. Any you find especially hardy, beautiful, etc.

I have Husker Red Penstemon from the plant exchange. They are doing great in my garden. I am in St. Paul.

Gary - I have a few varieties in the flowerbeds here in the cities and up at the lake. They all bloom for a long period so that's a plus

- Penstemon 'Dark Towers' - started from seed via winter sowing in 2011/2012 - they are in full bloom this year. I love the dark leaves and the pinkish flowers.
- Penstemon Digitalis 'Husker Red' - hardy, nice leaf color and blooms great
- Penstemon barbatus 'Coccineus' - hardy, however the stems don't always stay upright....
- Penstemon barbatus 'Rondo' - hardy - comes in different colored bloom
- Penstemon 'Grandiflorous' - need to let it reseed for mine only seem to last a few years , but beautiful bloom and large.
- Penstemon smallii 'Violet Dusk' - hardy, short
- Penstemon 'Cobaea' (Showy Beardtongue) -
- Penstemon strictus 'Rocky Mtn'- hardy
