Goutweed

My neighbor has Goutweed along the fence that borders my yard. I spend each spring digging up the rhizomes that crawl under the fence and invade my garden.

He recently agreed to let me attack the plants on his side of the fence. I'm thinking the only way to do it is to dig up his entire "garden" this summer and do a repeat attack in the spring.

Is there a better way to control the weed without killing my garden in the process?

If you can cover the good plants, then spray with roundup, that would be the simplest and easiest. Remove the covers the next day. Spray in September so as much of the chemical will go into the root system as possible.

And be prepared for the possibility of having to repeat.
