I noticed a couple of weeks ago the sumac was turning red near my house. Yesterday I noticed some of the trees turning yellow. Guess the drought must being having an effect on them. I'm not ready for fall quite yet.

I don't think we should even be talking about it yet...... Shhhhh.... Maybe if we ignore it, it'll go away. |

Definitely the drought. No indications of an early fall by temperature.

My backyard is covered with leaves that have been falling from a large cottonwood tree due to the lack of rain. Yesterday I was sitting in my backyard counting the leaves as they floated down to the ground (it was a pretty lazy Sunday for awhile there). It looks very "fallish" back there . . .

Counting leaves, that's a new one. Best get busy doing some weeding and put your mind to good use. I think summer, the glass is half full, not half empty. Fall can wait.......I know what follows it......

Over the weekend I was driving through Apple Valley and noticed some kids in the front yard of a house raking all the leaves that had fallen. At first I thought how nice it was that the kids were outside playing -- then it hit me that trees should NOT be dropping all their leaves this time of year!! Scary...

We have lost the leaves on the boxelders and horse chestnut. I could rake but at this point the leaves may be acting as mulch so I'm leaving them in place.
