Is this rose bush?

Hi, we had a rose bush (or two) among other bushes in our yard, that was almost tree-like. This year, it did not bloom (the blooms did not look healthy last year either) and when I checked, I saw a tall, skinny tree around where the rose bush/tree used to be, and another skinnier and shorter one next to it. The trees appear to not have any thorns. I remember that there was at least one very young tree starting to grow around the bushes and I was thinking we should get rid of it. Now I am wondering if this tall tree is our rose bush growing taller or a totally different tree that I should get rid of. I took some photos and now I realize the forum allows only one photo to be uploaded. I uploaded a photo of some leaves.

The leaves in the center look rounder and ones below look narrower but I believe they are both from the same tree.

If one of you could identify what kind of tree this is I would appreciate it very much. Thank you!
