Sweet Autumn Clematis

I've been reading the clematis forum about how SAC grows rampant taking over huge areas. My 5 year old SAC grown in a semi-shaded area has never grown more than 10 feet up a trellis and into a pine tree. Would like to hear about other MN growers experiences before planting one in full sun.

In full sun it will be much more likely to grow faster, but a few "trims" a year will easily keep it in bounds.
