I've had zukes produce until close to October as long as the squash borers didn't cause severe enough damage to have killed the stems earlier. The latest I harvested one was perhaps October 2nd one year. For powdery mold I've tried spraying it with different stuff, to just removing as many severely infected leaves as I could.

These were all from previous years when there wasn't an "October" weather pattern so early. Usually by the time the temps drop below the mid fourties, it spells the end of the growing season. Unless we're lucky, I fear the growing season has ended early this year. Adding to a late start, this season was really crummy.
