| Hi, everyone:
Please help: can I sow Columbine seeds directly in bed now? or should wait later-- maybe after cleaning up the fallen leaves? Or, should I wait even more to Apr 2007 to sow them outside -- except then it won't be such fun considering the freezing temperature outdoors. I figure that since Columbine seeds need 3-4 weeks of coldness that I might as well let them have it from nature than in my refrigerator. Thanks a lot for the help.

| I'm assuming they are the native species...just fine to do it now. For all my hardy seeds I direct sow in the fall, unless there's a compelling reason not to (seed needs to be planted as soon as it ripens, germination rate tends to be low, small quantity available, and so on). |

| I scattered columbine seed on a new area as they ripened on the plants earlier this summer. They have germinated so I have lots of seedlings growing. Go ahead and direct sow now. You could also save some seed to wintersow this winter. |

| Ditto. I sprinkled some on the garden earlier and they are coming up and I saved some for winter sowing. Yes it is Sunday the 10th. I need to get in gear and get some plants in pots. Pauline |
