Acorn squash pale?

Posted by vic01 z4MN (My Page) on

Does anyone have acorn squash seeds that produce the darker orange squash? The last few years all the seeds seem to produce pale almost yellow flesh instead of orange? Is this a new kind of hybrid? weather? Definitely not the acorn squash I grew up with or want. Anyone have any ideas or suggestions? Thanks.

Jackie

Jackie;
Have you tried Baker creek Heirloom seeds. they carry the old table Queen bush from Iowa. They are out right now but I would check with them they are in MO And maybe are still harvesting seeds. I remember table Queen as a nice dark orange when we grew it. I now use butternut the SVB's leave them alone. Sorry I don't know how to link but if you Google it it's on the first page.

Curt :) Lets all try to be a little greener.
