I was leaning toward the mint family since you said square stems, but when you said "e", it all fell into place.

Euonymus alata - Burning Bush
Usually has few or no seed capsules that are orange to pink and hang like an upside-down flower and open to reveal a red seed(s). Stems look square because they have four ridges running lengthwise on the stem, but in actuality(and unlike mint) the stem is round. Vibrant orange to pink to red fall foliage, depending on the individual plant.
