Yep- I wintersowed mine though- I put mine into containers- and you put yours into the beds- pretty much the same thing though. What might be faster is to start some cuttings in the spring- They do root pretty easily if I remember right-

Thanks Julie, sorry it has taken me so long to get back here. The reason I asked, I remember reading something somewhere that mentioned dogwood seeds need to be consumed by and go through a birds system in order for them to sprout. Well, time will tell. I've gotten them planted and am hoping come Spring I will have a nice surprise with baby dogwoods. ;)
