My neighbor has a huge Bittersweet vine

After my move to the northern climes(near Brainerd), I have discovered a lot of very interesting flora/fauna that wasn't present down in the Prairie near Litchfield. My neighbors have a Bitteresweet vine, Celastrus scandens, that is huge. The main trunk is wrapped around another tree and is about 6" in diameter. The top is at about 50' and is where all the berries are.

Has anyone seen Bittersweet this large before?

Wow, I would have expected the tree to be dead by now. Unless, is it a conifer?

Not a conifer, just a nondescript looking thing like Ash or Basswood. The vine looks like a Boa Constrictor squeezing the trunk.
