Container Moon Garden?

Posted by snshndydrm North Carolina (My Page) on

I had a wonderful little moon garden in the back of rental home for the last several years with moon flowers, nicatinia, dusty millers and other perrennials. I have just recently bought my first home where I have lots of room to garden! There is a terrace off my master bedroom that looks over a large pond and my woods. I am thinking of planting my moon garden in containers on this terrace. Any suggestions on moon plants that would work well in containers?

How about alyssum and white petunias? Nice fragrance for you to smell from the bedroom.

Your setting sounds lovely; I'm envious, but I make the most of my little suburban lot. One thought is; what about some of the hostas that have a lot of white in them combined with some of the things you had before? You might check out the hosta forum; some folks there grow hostas in containers. Good luck, Gina

Don't dats and brugs do well in containers? Perhaps something to check out. My moon garden is in its earliest stages, basically a holding bed now while I finish eradicating the vinca minor (i know) and other old plantings. I was thinking about doing containers while the bed was being prepared.

Ooooh how about white agastache? I have a container of it that germinated beautifully using winter sowing. Also, a kind gardener gave me some cute short stocky white alliums ( about 10-12 inches and fat) that look like nature's patio lights?

What would strawflower perriott look like? perhaps white nigella?
