| I am looking for information on native night blooming plants that are beneficial to moths and bats. My gardens are strictly native plants and I am interested in creating a night blooming garden. I prefer the plants are native to Ontario. However, suggestions within Canada would be beneficial. Thanks for your help. |

| its a myth that bats polonate flowers they might be around flower to eat the bugs that polanate them. And there a critter that looks like a humming brid but its a moth with a long snout. But they come out at night. For native plants try some datura they grow all over Canada. |

| Just a quick note. I looked into it and found that there are no plants that are pollinated by bats in Canada, however many are pollinated by bats elsewhere. It is not a myth at all. Secondly, all Daturas found in Canada are introduced. Some are listed as noxious weeds in the States. |

| I agree. The Datura are truly a tropical annual. They do however drop seed ( the white one ), and SOMETIMES come back from seed, if the site is a protected one. The moths are luna moths. Huge is the word....about the size of a hummingbird. They love the Brugmansia that I grow, but I have not seen them on my Datura. The first time I saw them I almost freaked out wondering what the @#$% was attacking my Brugs. No worry though. |
