lillies of the valley

ok- maybe i'm just being impatient...but I planted some lily of the valley bulbs this year for my moon garden (in march I think, when the package said I should), and I've only got small sprouts with two leaves twisting around a 3" stalk. I live in Austin- is this normal or should they be bigger by now?

thanks,

susan

RE: lillies of the valley

Hi Susan,
A few years ago I started a new patch at the old house and as I remember it was a little slow to get going, however, did you know that although they are lovely, cute and smell great that they are poisonsous and VERY invasive? They spread by underground runners so it's best to keep them in a contained area. Last year I ripped out 3 10 gal buckets of them that had completely taken over a flower bed by the back door. They are now comming back from under the side walk.
