Moon flowers bloom at night and then die?

My vine is growing a little slow but is producing buds. They bloom at night and then late morning the next day they die instead of closing, why is this?

That's their genetic nature. In the wild, they will be pollinated -- probably by a moth -- and only need the one night to accomplish their goal to reproduce(set seeds). Many other buds should flower throughout the summer/early fall till frost affects the tops. Did you know that the vines are perennial, in their natural environment? An interesting experiment would be to dig or store(if in a container) the root ball, to restart when warmth resumes the next season. Would be fun to try, eh?
