Very nice, I can smell the nicotiana from here.... Mine just started blooming this week...one flower, ha ha ha, I have sylvestris alata. Mine self sow, so I am lucky. Is the hymenocallis perennial for you in your zone? I only grew them once, annual for me here. I love them with your selection of fern and is that taro?

Thanks for sharing your photos...always nice to see..wish we could send scent... JoAnn

JoAnn,

Yes, that's just regular ole green elephant ears. My illustris has since come up and the combination is striking! Wish I could take credit, but I moved and just stuck dormant stuff in the ground. LOL!

No, the hymenocallis isn't hardy. I just dig it around Halloween every year, knock the dirt off, and set it on my wall between the kitchen and den so I won't forget about it. It gets some light from the back patio, so the foliage can die down fairly naturally. I've had it about 4-5 years, so it seems to be working. The bulb is "ginormous" to borrow a phrase from the movie, "Elf". It always surprises me when it blooms. It will keep that up all summer. And it seems to bloom earlier each year. It's in a semi-shady, very wet area (as you can tell by all of the strawberries around it!)

Glad you enjoyed the pics!
