Any of the white lilies, asiatic, trumpet and orental. Nothing like the fragrance wafting in the night! Also nicotianas alata and sylvestris, cleome, white dahlias Eveline is nice with her little lavender edge, or Crazy Love or Angel Dust. White pernnial asters like Monte Casino (I think). IT is covered with a cloud of tiny white stars in September/OCt. For background, azalea, bridalswreath, Mt Everest crab apple, tall white striped grasses. In front, white peonies and lavender alba.

Score! Got my white honesty seeds a while back and the in-ground sown are all up and running. If they're like the purple, they'll overwinter and perhaps bloom. Also, some I threw in a pot are all up and ready to transfer. Should have the same luck with these. I'll harvest a ton of seeds as soon as I can for all who are interested!

I'm zone 6 in Tennessee and mine bloom in January. That's the main reason I don't rip them all out. It's the only thing blooming in January.

I have some honesty seeds that was given to me ( i have never seen the plant) when and how do you sow the seeds.
From what I have been reading they come in more than one colour!!

Wow! Has it already been three years? Since then, I have acquired white, purple, and varigated lunaria and they are a staple in my garden. They self-sow like crazy and are biennial. They like part sun and are nice edge of woodland plants.

I would either winter sow or direct sow them. The trick is to remember that they are biennial and not to pull them. The foliage is larger triangular wrinkled leaves. In the early spring they sport phlox or hesperis type flowers that are really beautiful. Then the pods fade to those papery money plants we love. When the paper turns brittle, the seeds come tumbling out.

If you are harvesting seed for trade, I would be sure to really dry the seeds thoroughly for packing as they tend to mold easily. Otherwise, they're fun to send to people.

I always loved them in my grandmother's Ohio garden...anyone know how far South they can grow?

I grow them in Zone 7 without a problem, other than their reseeding all over. I have them under a Juniper and Cherry tree, almost full shade, and they've done super there, flower great and get plenty of seed pods too.

I did a search of GW for info on Lunaria and this post came up. I wouldn't have come across it since I have never visited the moon garden forum. I also just love my lunaria. I have only the one type, the purple. I had to rip all mine out last year, but I allowed the seed to scatter and reseed and I have a huge patch of it now and the leaves are huge for some reason. I am looking forward to them next year, but I want to grow something else with them, that bloom at the same time. Since you grow so many of them, can you tell me what might be in bloom at the same time and look good with them?

I recently found out I have seeds to start my own "Money Plant"....Michigan......I have never seen a purple one.....does anyone have photos of these different varities ....I believe mine are the "White" ones.....Thank you in advance....gert
