Moon Garden in the Snow

| We have not yet had any snow this season, so I have not yet been able to judge the visual effect of moon light on several new garden sculptures when (if) they become covered with snow.
Have any of you set up garden sculptures specifically with the winter moon and snow in mind? |

| not particularly...yet. but the big copper mayfly looked really neat in the 10 inches of snow we got (all melted now)...cast interesting shadows and has big red eyes like the winterberries. he is now sitting more out over the water since the pond has filled up since the summer when it was mostly dry. Kind of want to make some other kinds of sculpture with wavy copper piping on the edge of the pond, like reeds or branches or water creatures...that will blend into the grass in summer and stand out of the ice in winter and cast shadows. however, the full moon is out now and everything is much brighter than the summer since there are no leaves on the trees...too bad theres no snow now. my yard is bright now but in the summer...all "shade" perhaps i should plan a winter-only moon garden. | That seems to be true for my garden, too, since it gets all shaded out when the trees are in leaf. Tonight, the full moon reflected in the pond and beautifully "lit up" the big Japanese lantern. (No snow yet for this "snow viewing lantern, however.) |

| Did I hear right? John's sounds like he's complaining because its NOT snowing? You do want to be like the rest of the country... your secrets revealed! Actually, I hadn't thought of it, but its a good idea to think about winter moon gardens, especially with less inbetween the moon and eyes on the ground. Good thought. I'll try it later on and let you know. -Robin |
