I have over 50 Monkshood (aconitum) bulbs/tubers that I've just dug up - they have little 1" sprouts coming out of them already. Monkshood aren't supposed to like transplanting, but mine have always done fine when I've divided them in fall - that's why I have so many! Never tried it in early spring, though. Couldn't tell you what cultivar they are - planted them ten years ago - but they're about 4' tall and purple.

If you don't have small children or chewy pets in the garden and aren't fazed by the poisonous nature of this plant, check out my wanteds - mostly native perennials that tolerate wet feet, but I have garden boxes, too, and will happily consider more traditional cottage garden annuals and perennials, seeds or plants.

I've never mailed plants before and am a little leery due to the poisonous nature of this plant - would prefer an in-person swap. I live in St. Joseph County, MI, near the Indiana border. I am also frequently in Chicago on spring weekends. Thanks!
