plantings under a dogwood

I'm landscaping my front foundation plantings. I'd like to put a dogwood in the middle of holly bushes in back and litlle boxwoods in front. In the middle, I'd like perennials. I have space about 6 ft X 12 ft around the tree. What do you think would grow well and look good? I'd like any colors but red or hot pink. More blue/coral/ white/gold.
Thanks

What is your light exposure there - full sun, part shade, etc.?
