alternative to creeping phlox?

Sometimes there is an advantage to being forgetful - you can walk the garden and be surprised by what comes up. Huh? When did I plant that? :)

That happened to me this spring. I found two nice plants of phlox stolonifera "Home Fires" in the garden. Lovely, cheery flowers made it intact through the freeze. I was all happy until dad-blasted Peter Rabbit made a meal of it. So, what's a good alternative? Spreading, flowery, not invasive, able withstand our highs, lows, and humidity and unappetizing to bunnies.
