What is a good dwarf tree for mostly all shaded area?

I have a 'cut out' area on the east side of my house. So, there is house on the north, south, and west sides of this area with an oak tree on the east side. Pretty much completely shaded. I'd like to plant a pretty flowering dwarf tree in this area but can't seem to find on that will live in dense shade. Can anyone help?

How large of an area or how large of a tree are you after?

I'm not sure how small you want when you say dwarf, but what about a flowering dogwood?
