Pruning Jackamanni Clematis

I pruned my Jackamanni clematis a few weeks ago but I didn't hard prune it. I saw some shoots that were growing up and I was afraid to cut them back. I just read that I was supposed to hard prune it in late winter or early spring or it gets leggy on the bottom. Is it too late to hard prune it now? Will it still bloom this year if I do this?

Thanks for any info you can provide.

Sue

With as late as this spring is, you should be ok. I cut mine off about 2 weeks ago.
