Anyone interested in a what's blooming weekly thread?

Hi all,

I've noticed that a few other regional forums do a "what's blooming" weekly thread. Would anyone be interested in this? I thought it might be a fun way to get ideas and maybe become acquainted w/some new plants :)

Celadine poppies and creeping phlox blooming here. And of course my Tulips and Daffodils. There are blooms on my Dwarf Fothergilla , too.
Cool thread. It will prove to be very useful in the coming weeks.

Here in West Bloomfield, Michigan, I see wonderful early-blooming rhodadendrums, bleeding heart, magnolias (some had storm damage from our freak winter blast last weekend)...

I think it will be a great thread where you get ideas what to add to your garden. I have tried for several years to have blooming succession from early spring to frost.

Here's what I have in bloom right now:
    > Merrybells (Uvularia grandiflora) - I have no idea where it came from. It blooms for the first time this spring.
    >Primula acaulis - Primsroses
    >Primula veris - Cowslips
    >Chaenomeles - Flowering Qunices
    >Phlox subulata - Creeping Phlox
    >Hellborus niger
    >Muscari armeniacum
    >Tulips
    >Narcissi - various types
    >Scilla sibirica - the spring flush has past - still some left dangling
    >Leucojum aestivum'Gravetye Giant'
    >Peach
    >Apples
    >Buffalo Currants
    >Forthegilla gardenii
    >Platycladus orientalis
    >Dicentra spectabilis - pink
    >Forget -me-nots
    >Veronica 'Gorgia Blue'
    >Galium odoratum - Sweetwoodruff
    >Barberis thunbergii

I am very happy with my garden this year. The different forms, textures and colors in leaves are very interesting as well. I love spring.

I'm in a cool pocket, so: arabis, pulmonaria, various primulas, epimedium, bloodroot, the usual assortment of bulbs (tulip/narcissi/muscari/fritillaria), a wallflower, dicentra, brunnera, forest pansy redbud (just starting), forsythia

    and violets and dandelions.

Forsythia is past its prime, but still hanging in. Haven't noticed any late crocuses recently.

Scilla siberica, puschkinia, hyacinths are winding down, still have a few daffs. Muscari still coming up.

Early, mid and late tulips all blooming at the same time, more of all three budding.

Weeping cherry still has a few blossoms, apple in full bloom, lilacs starting. Purple sand cherry.

    Violets and creeping charlie.

New purchases: columbines, petunias, snapdragons, schizanthus, pansies, violas, dianthus. Established ones not blooming yet.

And I have one Stella scape!

We're right below the line between 5b and 6a. So,:

    Redbuds are finished.

    Red buckeye
Dogwoods full bloom (kousas might just be starting)
    Vanhoutteii spirea
    Snowball viburnums
    Azaleas
Deciduous rhodies (early rhodies are done)
    Summer snowflake (plicatum tormentosa) viburnum
Lilacs (vulagris) are finishing, meyerii is in full bloom

    Parrot and other late tulips
    Bearded, and dutch iris
the iberis, usually the same time as the iris behind it, is disinclined to bloom?
    Heuchera (most types and varieties)
    Epimedium rosea
    Columbine
    Celandine poppy
    Salvia superba
    Clematis "Nelly Moser"

    pansies, sweet allysum

done: Helleborus orientalis, vinca, daffs, leucojum, galanthus, well, you know the drill, etc....

Near: Old-fashioned climbing roses, mock orange, any day now, always synchronized with the tall bearded iris.

Isn't this just the best payoff-for-past-hardwork time of year? So full of promise and options. What to buy? What to plant where? Spring is for optimists.

P.S. Lamium maculatum with pink flowers. I have two, one with green & white variegated leaves, another with golden yellow leaves. I found out I prefer the green & white to the golden yellow ones. I should not have planted them together.
