phlomis/ jerusalem sage in zone 5 or Illinois- success?

Phlomis = Jerusalem sage.

I was surfing for info on this plant and can't find the answers to these questions.

There are several types of phlomis- some are even purple instead of yellow.
I've never seen it here- only on TV - and I was wondering if it does well here?
It sounds like some types can't take wet springs and perhaps others are ok. Also sounds like some have pretty leaves so I guess the others do not?

I don't see anyone on davesgarden growing it here. Makes me wonder....

Also - I see it can be started from seed. How many years does it take from seed to bloom?
