Missing Plants

I seem to be missing my shasta daisy plants, asters, and hardy mums. Shouldn't they have peeked their heads out of the ground by now in my zone 5 garden? I can't seem to remember.

Thanks,
Karen

Did you experience the late freeze like many of the rest of us? If so, you may have lost them... They should definitely be up and about by now.

That freeze took out one patch of Shasta daisies in my yard and reduced the size of another, so Kat's question about the April cold is probably right on the nose. That daisies are Becky, which I've found to be really really hardy where other Shasta's aren't.

What kind of asters did you have? I have Sky Blue (Aster oolentangiensis) which is native to this area and it's doing fine.

RE: Missing Plants

Thanks for your replies. I was afraid the freeze got them, but I was hoping you'd tell me they were just late to pop up. I guess I should consider myself lucky that I didn't lose more.

Thanks again,
Karen
