Decaying wood is the food for those mushrooms - you often see them in a yard where a tree has died and there are decaying roots under the surface.

The wood chips in your bed are pretty large - the decaying process uses up the nitrogen, too. In time it will work itself out, but I wouldn't use wood chips anymore.

blackcats13- The mushrooms are just Nature breaking down the wood and not a problem.

Actually, on the surface of the soil the nitrogen comes from the air and not the soil, so not a problem. It's when the the carbon is in the soil that the soil nitrogen is tied up for a bit.

Thank you! DH says he's noticed A LOT of what seem to be dead millipedes around them. Not sure what that means, but all the plants seem ok. Well, the marigolds aren't exactly thriving, but the veggies seem ok so far.
