I am re-doing our foundation bed on the North side of our house. We bought the house a year ago and don't care for the current design, especially the ugly edging. So I am starting over with metal edging, large egg rock and then of course.....the plants.

What to plant on the North side? I want to plant something fairly tall on the left side of the picture and then have a few smaller plants as you move towards the front door.

I very much want to keep this uncluttered and make the egg rock and landscape lighting visible for years to come. IOW, I dont want everything to get overgrown like most landscape plantings I see.
